Have You Got First Aid Covered For The Festive Season?
- Date: Thursday 9th December 2010
SSG are encouraging all businesses to ensure they are providing adequate First Aid cover over the festive season.
When employees take annual leave there is a real possibility that First Aid provision may be affected. If those on leave happen to be First Aiders the company’s ability to deal with a workplace accident may severely compromised. Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulation 1981 employers should have adequate equipment, facilities and staff in place to enable first aid to be given at work.
Companies should carry out a First Aid Risk Assessment in order to ensure their provision is suitable – this can be found via the following link www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/assessmenttool.htm .
Coverage in the absence of a full time first aider can in some cases be provided by an employee who has attended an Emergency First Aid at Work course. This is dependent on the work environment and location of the business. SSG still have some availability on our Emergency First Aid at Work courses before Christmas. Dates include:
• 17th December 2010 – Plymouth Training Centre
• 21st December 2010 – Bristol Training Centre
