IEMA Environmental Sustainability Skills for Managers

IEMA is the membership body for more than 15,000 environment and sustainability professionals worldwide. Supporting individuals and organisations in setting and achieving globally recognised standards for sustainable practice will, in turn, drive the development and uptake of sustainability skills.

IEMA Environmental Sustainability Skills for Managers is one of a suite of courses, under the banner of Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workplace, which is a development programme aimed at non-environmental specialists. The aim of this course is to support managers and supervisors in understanding the strategic and operational implications environmental sustainability has on them, their team and department, enabling them to contribute to the improved environmental sustainability of their organisation. It is a transitional course that builds on knowledge and really drills down into the details, giving managers and supervisors the tools to implement their broadened knowledge and skills.

Course Duration

SSG offer this course over two days as a classroom or virtual course.

Course Programme

This two-day course enables delegates to contribute to the improved environmental sustainability of their organisation and is ideal to rapidly upskills teams and those who oversee operational objectives.

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Evaluate drivers for change and barriers
  • Apply knowledge and understanding to baseline data to monitor and improve performance
  • Apply knowledge of environmental sustainability across the value chain
  • Demonstrate the importance of implementing resource efficiency
  • Demonstrate how employees can improve environmental performance

Training Certification and Assessment

Assessment is through a one-hour open book online multiple-choice exam. This exam must be completed within 28 days of the start of the examination period, and delegates must have access to a device with a reliable internet connection. Delegates will receive login details to their registered e-mails prior to the examination period starting, and they are responsible for undertaking the exam in accordance with the IEMA regulations.

Following successful completion of the course and exam, delegates will receive an IEMA certificate.
