In a heartfelt display of solidarity and commitment to supporting veterans experiencing homelessness, four members of our team participated for the third consecutive year in The Great Tommy Sleep Out, organised in honour of the (RBLI).

The Great Tommy Sleep Out, is a fundraising challenge that aims to raise awareness and essential funds in support of the estimated 6,000 veterans currently experiencing homelessness across the UK. Embracing the cause with empathy and determination, our team joined forces to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served their country.

Led by Miles, the team including Andy, Barry and Nobby, embraced this challenge with a shared sense of purpose. Through their participation, they aimed not only to raise funds but also to shed light on the increasing struggles young veterans face when accessing social housing and securing employment.

The Sleep Out took place on Thursday 21st March in the company’s car park. While wrapped in their sleeping bags, our members experienced a brief insight into homeless veterans’ realities.

The rest of the team extends their gratitude to all supporters and participants who contributed to the success of the fundraising campaign, with an estimated £600 raised so far.

SSG staff showcase solidarity in Great Tommy Sleep Out fundraiser

We are proud to announce that we have recently sponsored a local netball team. The team, SSG, who are part of Madballs NRC, are a dedicated group of athletes on a mission to make a grand return to their division after being relegated last year. 

This new sponsorship comes as part of our commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting health and fitness, and as such we are thrilled to support them.

The team is a friendly, close-knit group and one of four competing in their division. Last year, they faced the challenges of relegation but are now determined to come back stronger than ever. It is great to see their teamwork, enthusiasm and resilience, which also align with the values of SSG Training and Consultancy. 

Their dedication to improving their skills and performance is evident through their training sessions every Wednesday in Plymstock. Their commitment to continuous improvement is truly admirable and we wish them all the best this season. SSG play on Mondays at Plymouth Life Centre, make sure to cheer them on!

Through our sponsorship we are not only investing in a sports team but also in the development of local talent and community spirit. In doing this, we hope to encourage a culture of giving and social responsibility.

Twenty-three enthusiastic members of the SSG Training and Consultancy team laced up their running shoes and embraced the challenge of the Plymouth 10K on Sunday, May 14th. This annual event, known for its community participation, saw SSG staff members pushing their limits, achieving personal milestones, and creating lasting memories.Under the leadership of David Arnold, the Technology and Systems Manager, who spearheaded the initiative back in February, the SSG team embarked on individual training journeys to prepare themselves for the race. While motivations varied, with some participants aiming to beat personal bests and others content to complete the course at their own pace, every member of the team displayed a remarkable mindset and determination.The atmosphere on race day was electrifying as the SSG team, dressed in their eye-catching turquoise t-shirts provided by local Plymouth printing business, Il Pleut, lined up together at the starting line. The weather surprised everyone with unexpected heat, but this did not deter the participants, including some brave souls who even donned superhero costumes.Leading the pack for SSG was Gavin Parrott, who crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 48 minutes and 21 seconds, closely followed by Dave George, just a second behind. The entire team celebrated their achievements, knowing that it was not only about the race but the camaraderie and shared experience that made the event truly special."The journey leading up to the Plymouth 10K has been incredible, witnessing everyone's commitment to training and the excitement building up to race day," said David Arnold. "Whether our team members walked or ran, their participation was what truly mattered. Crossing that finish line was a testament to their determination and spirit. We owe a huge thank you to Il Pleut for providing us with the vibrant turquoise t-shirts that made us stand out as a united team."

SSG members whose teams placed first, second and joint third in the competition recieved a monetary reward, with £70 from the sweepstake also going to our chosen charity Sepsis Trust UK.&nbsp;Alongside this our keepy-uppy challenge created a fun, competitive atmosphere throughout the team with our top score being 31. A huge well done to Matt on his top score, though we wonder if he had got some practise beforehand!&nbsp;Our team also got into the spirit for the final by baking buns, hanging bunting, donning team shirts and even attempting "It's coming home" on saxophone. Despite the score it was a great match and good to see the SSG team enjoying themselves!&nbsp;
