This course is suitable for managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations making day-to-day decisions at work who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues and to be able to manage risks effectively.

Course Background

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is the most widely held health and safety qualification of its kind in the UK. Many people take the NEBOSH National General certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study.

Course Duration

An appropriate time scale for undertaking distance learning is 6-12 months depending on the learning undertaken by the individual. Publications can, and do, change annually so additional fees will occur after 12 months.

NEBOSH recommends a minimum of 108 hours’ study prior to completing the assessments.

Unit NG2 - Risk Assessment

  • Work equipment

  • Fire

  • Electricity

NOTE: Post-assessment closing interviews will take place on either of the final course dates, not both. Dates and time slots will be assigned on an individual basis.

Professional Membership

Holders of this qualification meet the academic requirements for technical membership. (TechIOSH) of the institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH – www.iosh.co.uk) and associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM - www.iirsm.org).

Assessments must be taken in the UK to be eligible for IOSH membership.

Training Certification and Assessment

Delegates will be assessed through an online scenario-based assessment and a practical risk assessment project set by NEBOSH.

Successful delegates will be awarded with the nationally recognised qualification.
