Course Background
The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety qualification helps delegates learn and develop fire safety skills which can be applied in workplaces around the world. On competition of the qualification, delegates will be equipped to understand fire and explosion protection and prevention principles as well as be able to carry out an effective fire risk assessment in a low-to medium-risk workplace.
The Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) replaces the National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management and the International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
Course Duration
An appropriate time scale for undertaking distance learning is 3-6 months depending on the learning undertaken by the individual; we strongly recommend no longer than 12 months is taken to complete the course.

Training Certification and Assessment
Assessment consists of one open-book examination (OBE) and one practical risk assessment. The open book exam for unit FSC1 will take around five hours and can be completed at home, with delegates having 24 hour period to complete and return it to NEBOSH. Unit FSC2 is assessed via a three-hour practical fire risk assessment carried out in a workplace.
Successful delegates will be awarded with the nationally recognised qualification.
