This course has been specially designed for those who need to ensure their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. Such individuals include:

• Managers with a responsibility for fire safety in the workplace

• Those working in facilities management

• Employee representatives and others

• Those wishing to start a career in fire safety or occupational safety and health

The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety qualification helps delegates learn and develop fire safety skills which can be applied in workplaces around the world. On completion of the qualification, delegates will be equipped to understand fire and explosion protection and prevention principles as well as be able to carry out an effective fire risk assessment in a low- to medium-risk workplace.

The Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) replaces the National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management and the International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.

SSG offer this course over five days as a hybrid training course.

In addition to classroom-based study, delegates will be expected to undertake a minimum of 20 self-study hours.SSG offer this over five days plus an open-book examination (OBE) and practical risk assessment. It is delivered as a classroom and virtual course; delegates can choose to mix these learning styles throughout the duration of the course. This enables delegates to be flexible with their learning to suit their needs whilst still getting the same quality training, support and communication with tutors and other learners.

Unit FSC2 - Fire risk assessment

Practical risk assessment - this has been developed around fire risk assessment standards such as the Home Office fire guidance and PAS79-1:2020.

Assessment consists of one open-book examination (OBE) and one practical risk assessment. The open-book examination for unit FSC1 will take around five hours and can be completed at home, with delegates having a 24-hour period to complete and return it to NEBOSH. Unit FSC2 is assessed via a three-hour practical fire risk assessment carried out in the workplace.

Successful delegates will be awarded with the nationally recognised qualification.
