This course covers legislative requirements and the main hazards of woodworking machinery.
Course Attendees
This course is ideally suited to anyone who uses or will be using woodworking equipment in the workplace. It is strongly suggested that those required to supervise and manage others using woodworking machinery also attend this course.
Course Background
The woodworking industry has one of the highest accident rates in manufacturing, most of which are caused by contact with moving machinery. This accounts for around 25% of all serious accidents and numerous deaths in the woodworking industry on an annual basis.
As woodworking machinery can inflict very serious injuries, it is essential that hazards are controlled and those involved in the use of such equipment are adequately trained.

- An overview of risk assessments
- Main hazards and controls including:
- Fire
- Falls from height
- Noise and vibration
- Manual handling
- Flying / falling objects
- Slips, trips and falls
- Kickback
- Projects and quizzes
Training Certification and Assessment
Delegates will be assessed continuously throughout the course and will complete a summative assessment at the end of the course. On successful completion of training, delegates will receive an SSG course attendance certificate which is valid for three years.
