This course includes elements of legislation, HSE guidance and technical policy from the IET (formerly the Institute of Electrical Engineers) and other professional bodies.

This course is suitable for all persons working on or near electrical systems or those with responsibility for the safety of others.
Course Background
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires that any employees required to work on or near electrical systems must be competent. This is defined in HSE guidance as having the suitable training, skills and knowledge for the task to prevent injury to themselves and others.

The course includes elements of legislation, HSE guidance and technical policy from the IET (formerly the Institute of Electrical Engineers) and other professional bodies, and covers the following areas:
Generic systems can be discussed during the training to highlight areas where additional control measures need to be introduced. Alternatively, the course can be tailored to integrate the company's existing policies and procedures beforehand, although this may require an element of consultancy.
Training Certification and Assessment
Delegates will be assessed on a practical demonstration followed by a written examination. On successful completion delegates will receive an SSG Course Attendance Certificate. Course certification is valid for 3 years.
Alternative assessment and report
A more advanced written assessment is available on request, the results of which are processed to produce a per delegate report, assisting a duty holder in determining an individual employees’ level of competency, relevant for the nature of the work they undertake.
