This course is suitable for anyone in any type of organisation; managers, supervisors and workers. It is suited to those who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues in order to manage day-to-day risks effectively.
Note
The standard of English required by learners studying for the IGC must be such that they can both understand and articulate the concepts contained within the syllabus.
Course Background
The International General Certificate is recognised around the world, with over 170,000 people worldwide who have passed this qualification. Many undertake this certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety as it gives a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study.
The qualification looks at general workplace issues and can be applied across many sectors. It looks at everyday solutions for general workplace health and safety issues and will provide delegates with the knowledge, understanding and skills to help protect the health and safety of all workers.
Course Duration
SSG offer this over 10 days plus an online scenario-based assessment and a practical risk assessment. It is delivered as a classroom and virtual course; delegates can choose to mix these learning styles throughout the duration of the course. This enables delegates to be flexible with their learning to suit their needs whilst still getting the same quality training, support and communication with tutors and other learners.

In addition to classroom-based study, delegates will be expected to undertake a minimum of 40 hours’ private study time.

Holders of this qualification meet the academic requirements for technical membership (TechIOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH – www.iosh.co.uk) and associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM – www.iirsm.org).
Training Certification and Assessment
Delegates will be assessed through an online scenario-based assessment and a practical risk assessment project set by NEBOSH.
Successful delegates will be awarded with the nationally recognised qualification.
