Rescue 3 - Water Awareness and Safety

This course will provide full understanding of related water rescue techniques.

Course Attendees

It is advisable when working within three metres of water that staff are trained in basic rescue techniques, and know of emergency procedures. This course is suitable for delegates in the environmental, construction, highways, civil engineering, groundworks or leisure trade.

Course Background

This course is designed to provide personnel, who may be working near water, with sufficient knowledge to be aware of the hazards created by this environment. During this course, delegates will gain full understanding of related water rescue techniques.

This course is classroom-based with content being related to their work environment. The training provided in this course will enable students to identify the risks around them and be able to apply safe systems of work to prevent them being placed in danger. The course is compliant with the DEFRA concept of flood operations level 1.

Course Duration

SSG are able to offer this course in partnership with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service over one day. This course is delivered at various fire stations across Devon and Somerset.

Course Programme

Candidates will participate in theory and practical training / assessment covering the following:

  • Legislation
  • Health and safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • Use of basic rescue equipment
  • All delegates will receive the 'Rescue 3 Water Awareness' manual for post-course reference

Training Certification and Assessment

Upon successful completion of the course, a Rescue 3 certification is awarded at awareness of water rescue. Students should requalify every three years.
