First Aid – Are You Covered This Holiday Season?
- Date: Wednesday 27th July 2011
With staff summer holidays approaching SSG are reminding companies to ensure adequate first aid cover continues to be provided in the workplace.
The law demands that all workplaces must comply with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Employers are required to have adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and staff in place to enable first aid to be given at work. Summer is a particularly important time to ensure First Aid cover is in place, particularly as this is often when a large proportion of staff, including nominated workplace first aiders, take annual leave.
Ensuring a quick and competent response to any workplace incident is extremely important. SSG First Aid Tutor Derek Paul believes it is vital that all companies are prepared and able to deal with accidents should they take place, particularly if the fully qualified first aider is away. SSG actively encourage all companies to carry out first aid risk assessments to ensure there is adequate cover provided at all times.
The HSE provide an extremely useful First Aid Risk Assessment tool which can be accessed through the following link. For information on the first aid training provided by SSG or further guidance on assessing your first aid requirements contact SSG on 01752 201616 or email email@example.com
