Cutting benefits to make up for costs of the National Living Wage?
- Date: Monday 27th June 2016
Watch out! Cutting benefits such as bonus payments, substitutions or incentives can be unlawful. If you have made regular additional payments over the past years, and have no provisions in place that allow you to withdraw or review benefits, they may now be deemed contractual and removing them without consultation could put you at risk. It’s also worth considering the real impact removing benefits can have on your business in terms of engagement and employee retention.
