During our upcoming Directors’ update seminars this quarter we focus on Occupational Health and what to bear in mind when it comes to your health responsibilities as an employer.
The HSE estimates that 22.3 million working days are lost each year due to illness which has been caused or made worse by work. The majority of these days lost are attributed to stress, depression and anxiety, closely followed by musculoskeletal disorders.
Most large employers now conduct regular health reviews in order to protect themselves and their workforce. However many small employers still shy away from proactive health management in fear of high costs and further implications, should issues become apparent.
Something to bear in mind though is that ignorance is certainly not bliss when it comes to occupational health and if you don’t yet conduct health surveys, DSE reviews and health surveillance, you should explore your options as soon as possible.
