Accident investigation is an essential part of any workplace health and safety management system and ensures that accidents are analysed and the root causes identified. The recommendations for improvement made during this process not only help prevent reoccurrence but strengthen the management system in place.
This 1 day course is designed to provide delegates with the skills to carry out a thorough and detailed investigation of any accident or incident in their workplace.
Who should attend?
Health and safety advisers, safety representatives, managers, supervisors and any person with the responsibility for investigating accidents in the workplace will find this course invaluable. There are no pre-requisites for delegates attending this training course.
On completion of the course delegates will:
Understand the legal requirements for accident investigation
Understand the principals of accident causation and prevention
Be capable of investigating the scene of an accident
Be able to interview victims and witnesses
Be able to identify direct and root causes of accidents
Be able to carry out an accident investigation, write a report and make recommendations for corrective actions
